Tzu Chi Attends U.N. Conference in Australia 

For the first time, Tzu Chi foundation attended the 63rd U.N. Annual Department of Public Information/Non-Governmental Organizations Conference as a NGO in Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC. The conference was held in Melbourne, Australia from August 30 to September 1. It was an excellent opportunity to share the experience of the foundation to the 1,400 representatives from 70 countries.

Textile Tycoon Swaps Putting Greens for Green Products 

Huang Huade used to play golf every day of the week until he went on a relief mission to China; it changed his life and convinced him that to help others was more important than pleasing himself. He has become a pioneer in manufacturing popular products from re-cycled material.

Huang is chairman of Texma International, a large textile company with factories in the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia and Shenzhen and offices in Taipei, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Vietnam. He used to be a golf addict.

Touching the Wondrous Realm of Dharma

Every morning, in the pitch blackness of the hours before dawn, our monastery wakens. The ringing of the big bell and the rhythmic beating of the large Taiko drum penetrate the quiet stillness, drawing all to the Buddha Hall to begin the morning recitation. The setting is one of utter serenity and peace.  By the time the recitation has ended and I walk to the Buddha Hall from my study to give my daily Dharma talk, the darkness is already beginning to recede. Dawn is just breaking over the horizon; the sun slowly rises, its rays passing through the branches of the trees, its beams scattering shimmering light. It is a most beautiful scene. In that serene moment, as I look out into the gardens, I feel that everything in Nature is speaking the Dharma to us.

Tzu Chi Opens China's 1st Overseas NGO Office 

On Friday, August 20, 2010, the Tzu Chi Foundation opened the first local office of an overseas Non-Government Organization (NGO) in China, in the eastern city of Suzhou in Jiangsu province.  The opening ceremony was held at the foundation
